Duke University’s MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts is proud to welcome MFA|EDA Visiting Artist Deborah Stratman to campus and to Durham, February 11-14. Among class visits, critique sessions with MFA|EDA students and other events, the acclaimed artist and filmmaker will screen a self-curated collection of short films, Tuesday February 11 at 7:00pm. Presented by Deborah Stratman and introduced by David Gatten.

KAREN YASINSKY:  LIFE (OPINION) / FIRE (FACT)

Artist and filmmaker Karen Yasinsky will be showing new and selected work on Wednesday February 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Full Frame Theater at ATC. Her video installations and drawings have been shown internationally at venues that include the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; PS 1, New York; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and Kunst Werke, Berlin. Her films have shown at MoMA, the New York Film Festival’s Views from the Avant Garde, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival where last year she won Best Sound Design. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and currently teaches at Johns Hopkins University in Film and Media Studies. The screening is free and will be followed by a public conversation with Karen Yaskinsky and David Gatten.
