MFAEDA student Annabel Manning recently helped organize an interactive video installation, “PopArt Visitors,” as part of the Connected There but Not Always Here: Social Networking and the Power of Image exhibition held at The Light Factory in Charlotte. For the installation, Manning collaborated with Berto Gonzalez, a PhD student in Human-Computer Interaction at UNC-Charlotte, and Celine Latulipe, an assistant professor of Human-Computer Interaction in the Department of Software and Information Systems in the College of Computing and Informatics at UNC-Charlotte.

According to exhibition materials, “PopArt Visitors” encourages viewers “to delve into the social sharing theme of the show–how many visitors participate and how they share their responses.”  To achieve that goal, the installation captures video clips of visitors while they respond to  images in the exhibition. During the first month of the show, visitors can actively participate in how their response will be manifested. After the first month, video responses  become part of the installation.

The exhibition will be held between January 28 and May 19, 2013 in The Light Factory’s Knight Gallery. For more details, visit The Light Factory online.
